Each Sunday session has its own focus to serve the diverse needs of our students.

2023 Summer Schedule:

June 4: “Matisse Inspired Tactile Collage”

Matisse began to lose his vision during the last years of his life, but this did not prevent him from continuing his visual artwork. He began a process called "painting with scissors," exploring the possibilities of collage, diversely-textured papers, and shape. We'll create our own Matisse-inspired collages, inspired by his summertime and swimming pool-themed artworks.

June 11th: “Art of Acrostic Poetry”

Explore the art of creative writing, taking your ideas from your mind to the page. Acrostic poetry is like a mind puzzle, challenging you to think of a word or phrase, and write a poem where each line starts with each letter of that word or phrase. We'll also explore turning our poems into collaged works of art.

June 25th: “Trauma Informed Yoga - Parent & Me Edition”

Together in this class we will introduce your little to gentle breath and body work. In this loving and silly time together we will give parents the tools and guidance to help their child learn how to move their bodies and breathe through feelings of- increased sensitivity, irritability, withdrawal, body tension and anxiety.
Come with an open heart, comfortable clothing and a yoga mat or blanket to sit on.

Focus: An inclusive learning environment created for families to gain actionable tools to help their children grow.
Ages: 3-6

July 9th: “Introspective Art”

This class will nurture and promote overall well-being by exploring experiences, thoughts, and feelings through art. In this class students will create through a variety of media and projects.

Focus: An inclusive learning environment created to improve mental well being.
Ages: 10-13

July 16th: “Summer Movement & Art”

Join us as we explore art in a sensory safe space. Youth will move their bodies, and approachably learn about an artist to do a project in the style of.

Focus: An inclusive learning environment created for those with and without Autism.
Ages: 6-9

July 30th: Ruth Asawa Tree Sculptures: Parent/Grandparent & Me Edition

California artist Ruth Asawa was known for creating magnificent wire sculptures alongside her children and grandchildren. It has been said that children often develop greater connections with loved ones in creative environments. Together in this class, participants will create a miniature enchanted forest with wire trees based off Asawa's nature-themed sculptures. This is an opportunity for adults and children to collaborate over upcycled materials and found objects to create environmentally conscious artworks.

Ages: 6-12 plus parent or grandparent
