Rowan Harrison

Adult Pottery Class
with Rowan Harrison

This 5-week summer course introduces students to the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel. Your instructor will cover technique, trimming, and glazing application. Class includes one bag of clay, glazes and firing fees.

Ceramics/Handbuilding with Rowan Harrison
Tuesdays - 6:00pm - 8:00pm
July 9th - Aug 6th

The class will entail all the processes of hand building with clay which includes working in the classic traditional coiling and slab methods. Projects, shapes and forms within the five week program will all be created without the use of the potters wheel. Students will have the opportunity to explore glazing techniques, hand painting with underglazes and other decorative methods. Rowan Harrison's work is connected and inspired by his Native American culture and the techniques of traditional Native American pottery will be explored in this session.

Everyday Creative Ceramics
with Young Shin Kim

Create your own utilitarian and decorative ceramic pieces for everyday use with Master Ceramist, Young Shin Kim. You will learn how to make pieces with both hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. Learn how to conceive forms and how to complete the pieces with slip, stain, and glaze. Learn the Buncheong technique, a special decoration skill with white slip, rooted in Korean traditional pottery. All the pieces are glazed with lead-free and food safe glazes and are fired at high-firing in gas kilns.
