The Doc Severinsen documentary that was partially filmed here at the Muck will have an EXCLUSIVE screening in our amphitheater.
After more than 30 years as the colorful bandleader of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, master trumpeter Doc Severinsen continues to defy nature well into his 90s with a grueling schedule of touring, performing and teaching. Trace the life and groundbreaking career of the unstoppable musical icon, revealing his personal trials and underscoring a remarkable journey of inspiration.
6pm: Grammy-award winning Jazz Pianist Bill Cunliffe leads an All Star band through Doc's Tonight Show arrangements with Vocalist Barbara Morrison
7:15pm: Comedian Dick Hardwick welcomes the audience to The Muck and to this Special Event
7:30pm: Dick Hardwick hosts Q&A with Nancy Severinsen, Doc’s daughter and film producer, and Jeff Consiglio, co-director and producer.
8pm: Screening of “Never Too Late: The Doc Severinsen Story”
Jeff Consiglio has worked as a director, producer, editor and creative consultant on films for over 30 years. He edited the Oscar-winning documentary INOCENTE, the Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning WAR/DANCE, and HBO's LIFE ACCORDING TO SAM. He was producer and editor of BEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS, TWINSTERS, OUT OF STATE, and MY COUNTRY NO MORE. Most recently, he was editor of LFG, the HBOMax feature documentary on the US Women's soccer team, and editor and producer of ON THESE GROUNDS which had a 2021 World Premiere at SXSW Film Festival.
Bill Cunliffe is a Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist, arranger, educator, and winner of the 1989 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Piano Competition. He is known for his innovative and swinging recordings and compositions.
Barbara Morrison’s melodic voice and three-and-a-half-octave range is known worldwide, as are her rich, unique, soulful, and highly spirited interpretations of familiar jazz and blues classics and original contemporary tunes.
