Interested in writing poetry, or just keen on picking up any new craft while you're at home sheltering in place? Join our Artist in Residence, Katharine Zaun, for a virtual haiku workshop this Friday, April 24th from 2-3pm PDT.
Apart from being fun to write, the tradition of haiku is centered around nature and the present moment, making it the perfect antidote to uncertainty. Consider it a writing meditation of sorts. So whether you're working from home, attempting homeschooling for the first time, or looking to take a break from the news, this workshop is for the whole family!
All you'll need is a pen and paper (markers and crayons also welcome), your computer (preferably a laptop or desktop rather than a tablet or smartphone), and this Zoom link. You'll be using your camera and microphone during the class, so if you can, check that those are working beforehand.
And don't worry about that pesky old 5-7-5 rule. While there are plenty of rules we need to be following right now, that isn't one of them! The hope is that you'll not only leave this workshop with a new affinity for haiku, but also feeling a bit more connected, grounded, and refreshed. We hope to see you there!
Adults only class coming next Friday, May 1st. Stay tuned for more info!
