“Unsavory”
On view: Jul 11-Aug 30 / Main Gallery
Throughout the history of art, food has been depicted via imagery of culinary delights, as well as social gatherings, sumptuous feasts, and mouthwatering still life representations. Nonetheless, these charming and innocuous displays of materiality often fail to address the troubling narratives regarding the manner in which food has been cultivated, exchanged, processed, distributed, and consumed.
In contrast, Unsavory will unveil the many destructive aspects - both to humans and the environment - brought about by the production/ingestion of food and beverage.
