Fullerton Arts Legacy Awards:
Fullerton’s Broadway Review–Honoring Vicki

In partnership with Fullerton Children’s Repertory Theatre
Thursday . September 27. 7:30 PM
$35-$125

The Dr. James Young Fullerton Arts Legacy Award winner Vicki Schindele to be honored at a star-studded music concert and award ceremony Thursday, September 27th at the Plummer Auditorium and will feature many star alumni of the theatre program she founded 30 years ago. The event will be sponsored by The Muckenthaler Cultural Center and the Fullerton Children’s Repertory Theatre (FCRT), and begins at 7:30 p.m.

Schindele, a fourth generation Southern California native, has taught musical theater to thousands of Fullerton elementary students. Schindele also co-directed Fullerton Union High School musicals for 14 years, receiving numerous awards, including the sought-after MACY award for best musical.

As the founder and co-director of FCRT, she has directed several hundred 5th through 8th graders for 30 years. Each summer and winter Schindele and her partner Brian Johnson produce and direct a Broadway show, casting students in all of the roles. Additionally, teenage FCRT alumni act as technical crew and volunteer parents support what FCRT calls its “Rep family.” FCRT has taken its students to performance venues across Japan, Australia, and many European countries.

The event will star FCRT alumni and their Broadway friends, which include Broadway vets like Wicked star Erin Mackey, country singer Peter Brandon, and musical theater performer Brent Schindele. Brad Williams of Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia fame and FCRT alumnus will emcee the event. Brian Johnson will direct the performance.

Ticket prices range from $20 to $125. A VIP dinner at Angelo & Vinci’s is included with premium $125 seats. This is the 2nd annual Fullerton Arts Legacy Award. Last year, the Muckenthaler partnered with the Fullerton College Foundation to honor guitar legend Dick Dale, and awards to Bob Jensen and Dr. Jim Young, the award’s namesake.

The Plummer Auditorium is located on: 201 East Chapman Avenue  Fullerton, CA 92832-1925
