Walter and Adella Muckenthaler visited the Pacific Electric Railway Vacation Home. The young couple enjoyed traveling by automobile to places of natural beauty, including Yosemite National Park. The majestic Sequoia National Park drew them in with its giant trees. Walter and Adella were well traveled in an age when much of California was under developed and automobile travel was mostly on dirt roads with ruts from oxen carts. Cars were less dependable, and gas stations were father apart. Hotels were few and far between, and camping gear was much less portable. Travelling the West by car in the 1920's took a great deal of planning and perseverance.
