We Need Volunteers!!

Are you looking for a way to give back to the community? We have many, different, fun volunteer opportunities right here at the Muck! From helping out at Muckenthaler events to serving on the Board of Trustees, there is a volunteer position for you. Please see below for a list of positions we need your help with:
➢ Ticketing – Sell tickets, check-in guests, and watch the show when you are done!
➢ Muck Booth- Speak to the community at Muck events and festivals both on the Muck grounds and at off site locations. If you enjoy speaking to the public, this is the position for you!
➢ Bar and Concessions – Setup, stocking and maintenance of the bar. Help in serving drinks and food, collection of funds, and take down (Must be 21 Years old)
➢ Youth & Leisure League Organizers- Volunteers under 40 who help organize our young professionals and youth events and “Leisure League,” a lawn sports event.
➢ Parking – Guide traffic at our sold out events. Setup cones for parking demarcations.
➢ Assistant Stage Managers – Work backstage to help make sure artists are ready for their cues and provide security in artist and volunteer areas
➢ Children’s Art Workshops- Help children complete art projects at our festivals*
➢ Arts and Crafts Vendor Faires – Help with setup and check-in vendors at our festivals
➢ Farm Dinners- Help decorate, set tables, and serve gourmet food courses and wine (Must be 21 years old to serve wine)
➢ Docents– Dress in period costume and offer tours to the public of the Muck’s history and gallery exhibits
➢ Teacher’s Aid for Summer Camps and Children’s Classes – Oversee students and assist teachers of Muck classes, summer camps, and outreach programs
➢ Editing – Assist with editing Muckenthaler marketing materials and documents (strong written communication skills needed)
➢ Grant Writing – Assist in research, writing, and management of grants reporting and documentation
➢ Customer Service (Reception) – Greet visiting patrons and communicate information about our programs, history, and events
➢ Unpaid Academic Interns (from recognized high schools, colleges and graduate programs- 20/hours/week commitment for 12 weeks) in:
Arts Administration
Arts Education
Marketing/PR
Design
Curatorial
Event Production
➢ Serve on a Committee. (For consultants with expertise in these areas looking to share their knowledge. Great for people who might want to serve on the board of trustees in the future but need to get their feet wet!)
o Facility/Grounds
o Fundraising Committee
o Car Show Committee
o Board Development Committee
• Center Circle Guild – This women’s auxiliary have fun with tours and card parties: run our gift shop and concessions, and more while helping to raise money for the Muck!
• Board of Directors – Help guide the direction of the Muck
Volunteer Benefits – After completing 100 hours of service, our volunteers are entitled to the following:
• A “What the Muck” t-shirt
• A year-long Muckenthaler membership
• A copy of the “Muckenthaler Cultural Center History Book” detailing the story of the Muckenthaler Family and their influence on North Orange County
• Invitation to Volunteer Appreciation Events
• Invitations to Staff-Only Events
• Free admission to many Muckenthaler Performances
Volunteer Responsibilities
Our volunteers truly make a difference, and as such, we rely upon them. We would like to respectfully request that if you have signed up for a particular volunteer role and it turns out that you cannot fulfill your responsibility, that you call us, so that we can call in a backup volunteer to take your place. Please dress in a white top and black pants or knee-length skirt with comfortable shoes, when your volunteer duty requires you to interact with Muck patrons.
*NOTE- A criminal background check is required for positions working with youth.
